Children's Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 31, 2026
Effective date: August 31, 2026
1. Purpose
GoodTube is built so parents and guardians control what their children can watch on YouTube. This Children’s Privacy Policy explains how we handle information related to children when they use GoodTube through a parent-managed account.
This policy supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. Our approach: parent-directed, not child-directed
GoodTube is a parent-directed service:
- Parents (18+ or age of majority) create the account and agree to our policies.
- Children do not register with their own email or create independent accounts.
- Children access Kid Mode only after a parent pairs a device and supervises use.
- Parents approve or deny every video request before playback (unless auto-approve rules are enabled for specific channels).
We designed the Service so parents remain in control of their children’s video access.
3. What child-related information we collect
We collect information about children only as directed by the parent through the parent account:
| Information | Example | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname | “Alex” | Show which child made a request |
| Optional avatar | Profile image URL | Display in app |
| Preferred language | Latvian, English, etc. | Localize the app for that child |
| Linked device ID | Generated device UUID | Connect kid device to parent account |
| Device name | “Samsung Galaxy Tab” | Help parents identify devices |
| Video requests | Video title, URL, channel | Parent approval workflow |
| Approval status | Pending / approved / denied | Supervision |
| Viewing history (optional) | Videos watched, timestamps | Parent review (can be disabled) |
| Channel whitelist/blacklist | Channel names/IDs | Parent safety rules |
We do not require:
- Child’s full legal name
- Child’s date of birth
- Child’s email address or phone number
- Child’s precise location
4. How we use child-related information
We use this information only to:
- Let parents review and approve video requests
- Show parents which child requested which video
- Maintain approved video libraries per child
- Enforce channel whitelist/blacklist rules per child
- Show viewing history to parents (if enabled)
- Send parents push notifications about new requests (not children)
We do not:
- Sell child-related information
- Use child-related information for targeted advertising to children
- Show AdMob ads in Kid Mode search or video playback screens
5. Parental controls and choices
Parents can:
| Control | How |
|---|---|
| Approve or deny videos | Approval queue in Parent Mode |
| Auto-approve or block channels | Channel management per child |
| Disable viewing history | Notification / history settings |
| Manage notifications and quiet hours | Notification settings |
| Unpair a child device | Kid profiles / device settings |
| Set a parent PIN | PIN settings |
| Delete all data | Delete parent account (removes all child profiles and data) |
Parents are responsible for supervising their children’s use of GoodTube and YouTube content they approve.
6. COPPA (United States)
Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), websites and apps directed to children under 13 have special requirements.
GoodTube is not directed to children as the primary account holder. Instead:
- The parent registers and consents to data practices by creating an account and accepting our policies.
- Child-related data is provided and controlled by the parent.
- Parents may review and delete child-related information by managing profiles or deleting the account.
If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13 outside this parent-directed model, contact us at support@cyberfork.eu and we will delete it promptly.
7. GDPR and children in the EEA/UK
Where GDPR applies, parents (as account holders) may exercise data protection rights on behalf of their family, including access, correction, and deletion. See our Privacy Policy Section 9.
We process child-related data based on the parent’s use of the Service (contract) and legitimate interests in providing a safe supervision tool, where permitted by law.
8. Third parties and YouTube
When a parent approves a video, the child watches it through YouTube’s embedded player. YouTube and Google may collect information according to their own policies. We do not control YouTube’s data practices.
Parents should also review:
GoodTube is independent from YouTube and is not a YouTube Kids replacement.
9. Data retention and deletion
- Child profile data is stored while the parent account is active.
- Deleting a child profile or the entire parent account removes associated child data from our active systems, subject to standard backup retention by our hosting providers.
- Parents can delete their account in Parent Mode → Profile → Delete account.
10. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect information, including:
- Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules
- Server-side validation for tokens, subscriptions, and sensitive actions
- Hashed parent PIN storage on the server
No system is completely secure. Parents should keep account credentials confidential.
11. Changes
We may update this Children’s Privacy Policy. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated in the app or to the parent email on file.
